A project co-funded by the European Union and
the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons
EUREQUO activities are structured in seven work packages.
Work Package I Coordination
European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) is the Lead Partner for EUREQUO project therefore responsible for managing technical and financial aspects.
Work Package II Dissemination
ESCRS will raise awareness of EUREQUO through dissemination of articles, organisation of National Society Conferences, European and International medical conferences.
Work Package III Evaluation
An evaluation report will be carried out in order to analyse the data in the database and develop the guidelines for cataract and refractive surgery.
Work Package IV Review EUREQUO Design
The methods adopted for the development and implementation of the EUREQUO Quality Registry take account of the existing information systems and organisational structures already established in Europe. During this phase EyeNet Sweden will assess suitability of existing ESCRS information systems.
The aim is to build on the best element of existing systems rather than create duplicate systems and prepare for the data model design.
Work Package V User/data provider requirements and system specifications
This phase will identify the needs of participating countries with reference to IT and training. Decide on datasets to be collected and functional specification for the database. All associated partners will have opportunity to meet and discuss the data collection methods for EUREQUO.
Work Package VI Pilot Implementation
The proposed software will be tested for almost one year in Scandinavia, The Netherlands and Spain. This phase is fundamental to complete evaluation and to ensure that the system is robust and fit for purpose before full roll-out in the other participating countries.
National Registry Managers will be recruited and will work together with project co-ordinator and Eyenet Sweden to test the operability of the system.
Work Package VII Full Implementation EUREQUO
In year three EUREQUO system will be rolled - out in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Turkey Slovakia, Italy and United Kingdom. National Registry Managers will be recruited in these countries.
The data collected in EUREQUO database will be analysed and a report with final recommendations and guidelines on cataract and refractive surgery will be prepared and disseminated.

Timeframe Work Packages
The core work packages will be implemented with the following time schedule
